CSSAL - Linwood - 29th April
VP-Glasgow were well represented at
Linwood on Sunday despite many of our U17's and U20's
representing Team Glasgow at Grangemouth.
Hannah
Campbell had an excellent run when winning the U17 300m in
a time of 43.8s. Lee Cassidy had his first outing of
the season in the Mens 400m and won with a new PB of 51.9.
In the U15 girls High Jump, Caitlin
Welsh and Catherine Clark could not be separated and won
maximum points for the team with jumps of 1.40m.
Fraser Barbour had an excellent win
in the U13 800m, well ahead of the rest of the field in a
time of 2:34.8.
Liam Turner won the U11 Long Jump
with a distance of 3.23m,
came second in the 80m sprint and placed 3rd in the 800m.
Charlotte Logan continued our success
in the Senior Womens High Jump with a height of 1.45m on
her way to winning maximum points. Her sister
Lucinda was also a winner of the U17 Ladies High Jump with
a height of 1.55m.
Mairi Bowie won the U15 Long Jump
with a distance of 4.39m ahead of her team-mate Sarah Gray
who was 1st B with a distance of 3.97m
Maximum
points were won in the Senior womens Javelin when Catriona
Cicero Sola achieved a distance of 30.07m and Susan
Freebairn reached 26.13m.
Chris Barnes had a mixed day, after 3
no throws in the U15 Discus before he won the Shot Putt
with a distance of 9.6m
The day didn't go to plan for
everyone though, Kirsty Dinsmore was competing in the U11
800m and making a bold bid for the front of the leading
group when she lost her footing and had a major collision
with the new Linwood Track. She'll have two lovely
black eyes to show off at School on Monday morning.
All of the results had not been
submitted by the time we left but we will be comfortably
in the top four places. Our Ladies appeared to be
the highest scoring female team on the day.
Well done to everyone who took part.

Club Sponsor - Kit Supplier
Katie
Alexander of Achilles Heel has agreed to be our sponsor,
making a very generous financial contribution to the Club.
Katie, who is well known to most of the athletics
community in the Glasgow area and a great supporter of
athletics in general is, like ourselves, delighted to be
involved in this new and exciting partnership.
As well as being our sponsor, she has
agreed to stock our new kit which has already been ordered
from Ronhill with the date of delivery expected to be near
the end of April. Achilles Heel will hold a full
stock of Vests, Shorts and Crop Tops. As soon as we
have a delivery date, I'll post the information on this
page.
For those of you who don't know,
Achilles Heel is based at 593 Great Western Road, Glasgow,
which is about 100m west of Kelvin Bridge. I'll post
more information about our new sponsor in the near future,
however, in the meantime you can visit their web site by
following this link.
I'm sure everyone connected to the Club would like to
thank Katie for this valuable contribution and hope that
we have a long and successful partnership.

Representing VP-Glasgow Summer 2007
Katharine Crichton
(track
and field secretary) has created a spreadsheet and
e-mailed it to our athletes. If you have not
received this, you should send an email to
John Innes (membership
secretary) and have him add your e-mail address to the
database.
You can
download the spreadsheet here.
It lists the competitions in which the club is entering
teams this coming season. Katharine has listed the
events (as far as we know them) that the athletes will
compete in each league.
Please indicate your interest and
availability by putting an X against the events for which
you wish to be considered. Showing interest doesn’t
mean definitely competing! Individual team managers will
select their team for each match closer to the date of
competition and list the team selections on the website
and by email.
You should return the completed
spreadsheet to
katharinepsc@yahoo.com by
31st March at the latest. If you have any questions or
concerns regarding this, please email her or talk to your
coach. |
