Dunbartonshire AAA Cross Country Championships - 12th
November
A good day had a great start when Max
Aitchinson won the U11 event by 23 seconds from the rest of a large field.
Paul McFarlane was 3rd in the U13 Boys race and Michael Gray was 3rd in the

Well done to all of those who took part, especially Iona Wilson who was our only

Fund Raising -
Help Required
Victoria Park have been invited to take
part in a Bag Packing afternoon at Sainsbury's store at Braehead on Sunday 27th
November.
The purpose of this fundraising is to
purchase a stock of a new style tracksuit and training tops which we can sell to
our members, hopefully at a generous discount.
We
are looking for as many volunteers as possible. The bag packers must be at
least 10 years of age on that date. We also need some parents to come
along and help with the supervision (no age restriction).
We will be allowed into the store from
1200 hrs till 1800 hrs.
Our packers must wear their Club
colours, which would be either the last Club tracksuit top or the Club running
vest over a T shirt.
I would ask any of our older members who have grown out of
the last tracksuit top and are finished with it, to return it to Linda or Gordon
and we can arrange for someone to wear it on the day.
We would like as many of the U17 and U15 athletes as possible to make
themselves available for the full 6 hours if possible (with breaks).
We would like to break the participation of the U13 and U11 athletes down to
a maximum of 3 hours starting at either 1200 hrs or 1500 hrs.
We expect the afternoon concerned to be hard work but also very enjoyable, if
you are available, please give your name to Linda or Gordon. The more packers
we have in the store, the more money the Club will make.

The following athletes have volunteered to help on the day of the bag packing.
Any other volunteers will be added to the list. We now need volunteers
from the U11's, U13's and parents to come forward.

Steven Beattie
Some of you may have heard about Stevens
visit to the Southern General on Saturday 24th September. To clarify
matters, Steven was a victim of an assault on that date which resulted in him
receiving lacerations to both arms.
He was released from hospital on Tuesday 27th
and we are told by his mother, he is expected to make a full recovery within six
weeks.
We wish Steven a speedy recovery and hope to
see him back at training as soon as his injuries allow.

Club Championships - Scotstoun - 18 September
2005
The
Club Championships came to a conclusion today with many new PB's being achieved.
This was likely to be the last meeting in the current Stadium with the old stand
due to be demolished in February 2006.
The meeting coincides with the Club's
upcoming 75th Birthday celebrations. We were able to update the Club
photograph which is shown here and one from the early 1950's shown below.
I think that Charlie Murray is the only Athlete to appear in both. Click

Scotstoun Stadium
The latest news about Scotstoun from a
meeting Ronnie Stevenson had with Glasgow City Council is that they plan to
begin work on the new Scotstoun Stadium in early 2006, about six months later
than they originally intended.
Glasgow
City Council will sign separate agreements with the Scottish Rugby Union and
Glasgow Athletics, hopefully offering the same sort of access as was 'agreed'
before with rugby. GCC will maintain the new Scotstoun.
They are trying, with a clear expectation
they will succeed, to maintain the same design as before although the north
stand may go.
They hope to offer us (Glasgow Athletics) a
draft heads of agreement by the end of October. |

|
A4 Poster
Scotstoun
Leisure Centre have agreed to display a new poster advertising
the Club Web Site. Copies can be downloaded here if your
local school, Sports Centre or other suitable location is
agreeable to it's display.
Copies
can also be obtained from Gordon or Linda.
